I am presently working to set up two Item Writing Workshops. The first
will be held at Free Geek in Portland on the 13th of March and the
second in Redmond on the 26th of March (the venue is not firm yet but
will be near the Redmond Town Center). If you are not in the Pacific
Northwest then please continue to read for ways you can have a session
too.
What is an Item Writing Workshop? It is an intense session where LPI
brings together certified people who wish to contribute to the creation
of our tests. These workshops have been held successfully in St Louis
and Beijing China and are planned for more locations soon.
The trouble is that in the US we have a hard time in getting the 5-7
people that we prefer to have together at once. This has caused us to
have to cancel events here in the Northwest in the recent past. I know
that there is a large group of Linux supporters in both Portland and
Seattle, I'm local and I've met you. Come help me have a successful
event on the back porch of Microsoft! If you cannot attend then please
get the word out to others who can. I'll also accept people who due to
seniority will never take our tests if they are willing to waive the
right to do so. If you can help with getting your employer to support
having people at the event then that is even better. Their support will
be trumpeted worldwide as a friend of the community!
If you are not in the Pacific Northwest then please consider getting
people together in your location. If you can get together 4-7 people
(I'm easy) then I will come there and make it happen. This is an
excellent opportunity to help the Linux community and improve the value
of YOUR certification directly!
