i've gone through the same process. the problem is rather straight
forward: IMHO, the LPI exams are way to good to really allow for
a study guide to exist. the exam tests knowledge that goes beyond the
studied and crammed, a study guide that would be appropriate to get
everyone to pass the exam would have to be of immense volume.

and then, such a study guide, as far as i can tell, would just not be
in the interest of LPI. we want people to have experience, we really
want to minimize the numbers of people passing the test on mere
knowledge rather than experience.

i am certainly interested, although my tendencies go more into the
direction of teaching the contents. i'd oppose to people preparing the
test by cramming a couple of books, but having someone attempt the
exam after six weeks of day-to-day experience and exposure to linux
would be appropriate. it mustn't be based on step-wise labs, but
rather on instructions like "change a system over to use md5
passwords". the exact procedure should be worked out by the students
with the help of each other, the internet, the tutor, and exposure to
real configurations.

i am looking forward to this. please keep me posted, unless you intend
to keep the list up to date.
