I am not quite sure of the pertinence of testing generic PC hardware 
knowledge in the first place.  I know BIOS are an issue with the boot 
process, and that some parameters might affect the way Linux handle it. 
  But I would tend to see it as outside the scope of LPI.

I would rather have LPI concentrate on topics that are specific to 
Linux.  As I said in other discussion, there is only so many objectives 
you can cram into the exam, and there is plenty of stuff to test.  Some 
compromise have to be made.  I would leave generic PC hardware knowledge 
to A+.
