I see ambiguity in the numbers too. Anyway, Linux always starts with
zero, so why do we start with 1?

But seriously .. 1 is primary, it could easily be taken, if there
weren't other linguistic indications, that level 1 is primary, the top
certification.

1st, 2nd, 3rd, for instance. lpic 3 could be interpreted as being
somehow bronze to 1's gold. There are lots of ways to interpret a
purely numeric scheme.
