But let's not limit it to "Linux-Samba being Windows-ADS' bitch." 
Let's make it about building an _open_ enterprise network
infrastructure.

That's where Alan and I _strongly_ disagree.  Especially since an
_open_ enterprise network infrastructure serves _more_ than just file
services to Windows (or UNIX/MacOSX for that matter), but mail, web,
database, etc...

That's your primary core exam right there.

P.S.  I've really said enough now, and I'm merely rehashing what I
said 6, 12 and even 18+ months ago.  Matt knows my viewpoint, and
even appreciates much of it.  Unfortunately (and I'm really pushing
it now), I don't have the time to "put up."  So now it's really time
for me to "shut up" and get back to serving the needs of my client.
