Linux Professional Institute Announces New Affiliates in Europe and Africa

(Toronto, Canada and Madrid, Spain: April 19, 2007) The Linux
Professional Institute (LPI), the world's premier Linux certification
organization (http://www.lpi.org), announced new affiliates throughout
Europe and Africa including LPI-Spain, LPI-France, LPI-Maghreb,
LPI-Malta/Cyprus and a new partner in South Africa.

John Meaney, Area Operation Manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa
(EMEA) made the announcement while attending the inaugural event for
LPI-Spain at the LinuxWorld Open Solutions Summit in Madrid, Spain
(April 18-19, 2007). Meaney also noted that LPI-Maghreb
(www.lpi-maghreb.net) was also launching its own inaugural event this
week at MedIT in Algiers (for more information see
http://www.lpi-maghreb.net/article.php3?id_article=67/_).

Jim Lacey, President and CEO of LPI credited Mr. Meaney with growing the
network of affiliates throughout Europe and Africa: “John has taken the
hard-earned knowledge of such affiliates as LPI-German and
LPI-Francophonie and applied their lessons learned to grow new partners
throughout the region. This demonstrates the importance of adapting our
Regional Enablement Initiative (REI) to the challenges of specific
geographies.” Specifically, Mr. Lacey pointed out a meeting of all EMEA
affiliates Mr. Meaney hosted in March as a means of introducing new
affiliates into the LPI program—the first time such an educational event
has been hosted by LPI for affiliates.

New affiliates in Europe and Africa include:

*LPI-Spain: LPI's activities in Spain are led by Qindel – an IT solution
provider located in Madrid, Spain with offices in Lisbon, Portugal
(www.qindel.es)
