Linux Professional Institute hosts events during LinuxWorld San Francisco

(Toronto, Canada: July 12, 2007) The Linux Professional Institute (LPI),
(http://www.lpi.org), will provide discounted certification testing during
LinuxWorld Conference & Expo® San Francisco, August 6 - 9, 2007 at the
Moscone Center, San Francisco, California. LPI is the official
certification sponsor of LinuxWorld Conference & Expo, offering a
standardized, multi-national, and respected program to certify
professional expertise in Linux.

Paid conference delegates will be able to take the LPIC-1 and LPIC-2 exams
free as part of their conference fee (a $150 US value per exam) while
those attending the trade show will be able to take the exams at a
discounted fee of US $75 per exam. The LPI exam lab will be offered each
day at 1 p.m. (Room # 236, Moscone Center North). All candidates must
pre-register at the LPI web site for an LPI ID number at
https://www.lpi.org/en/register.html. Exam candidates must bring valid
photo identification and their LPI ID number to the exam lab.  The Ubuntu
Certified Professional exam will also be available to all conference and
trade show attendees at $75--a 50% discount off the regular price.

Dr. James Stanger, Chair of the LPI Advisory Council extended an
invitation to all Linux professionals to attend LPI events to be hosted
during the conference: "LinuxWorld San Francisco is a signature event for
LPI where we actively invite the input of Open Source opinion leaders and
Linux professionals to participate in the development of LPI certification
programs and other LPI initiatives.  The LinuxWorld San Francisco event is
a great venue for this purpose as there is a broad cross-section of global
business representatives interested in the development of Open Source
software which attend this event." Dr. Stanger invited those attending the
conference to attend the following LPI events:

* LPI "Wine and Cheese": Tuesday, August 7, 5 p.m. (following closing of
the Exhibit Hall), Room #236, Moscone Center North.  Back by popular
demand after last year's successful event this tasting of locally produced
California Wines is open to all LinuxWorld participants.  Dr. James
Stanger will be available at the event for book signing of his co-authored
"LPI Linux Certification in a Nutshell (Second Edition)" published by
O'Reilly Media (see http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/lpicertnut2/).

* LPI Strategic Advisory Council meeting: Wednesday, August 8, 9:00 to
11:00 AM, Room 19201 (19th Floor) at IBM's Market Street Building (425
Market Street, San Francisco).  This meeting will include presentations
from senior LPI staff including Area Operations Managers who are
responsible for LPI's successful initiatives around the globe. 
Participation is limited due to seating and security and interested

* LPI Technical Advisory Council meeting: Wednesday, August 8, 4 p.m. at
the LPI exam room in the Moscone Center North (Room # 236).  This meeting
is open to all participants interested in the development of LPI's
certification programs and will invite input on LPI's roadmap for the
development of existing and new certification products.

* Birds-of-a-Feather: "Linux Certification: The New Wave", Wednesday,
August 8, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM.  G.Matthew Rice, LPI Director of Product
Development will lead a discussion on the growing demands for enterprise
certification including testing for new job duties around Windows/Linux

* LPI Exhibit Hall Booth I436: all interested LPI professionals, training
providers and enterprise customers are invited to visit LPI staff from
around the world at the LPI booth at the Moscone Center Exhibit Hall.
